Giant Gourami
Giant Gourami is one of the largest species of gourami and is well known for its size, strength, and intelligent behavior. Native to Southeast Asia, this fish is often kept in large aquariums or ponds and can become quite interactive with its owner.
Features:
Size: Up to 50–60 cm when fully grown
Temperament: Generally peaceful but can become territorial as it grows
Tank level: Middle to top swimmer
Lifespan: 10–15 years
Diet: Omnivore (pellets, vegetables, fruits, live or frozen foods)
Tank Requirements:
Minimum tank size: 300 liters or larger
Temperature: 24–30°C
pH: 6.5–8.0
Requires strong filtration and plenty of swimming space
Compatibility:Juveniles can live with other large peaceful fish, but adults are best kept with similarly sized tank mates due to their size.
Special Note:Like other gouramis, Giant Gouramis have a labyrinth organ, allowing them to breathe atmospheric air from the water surface.
